Introduction
Greetings Everyone!
My name is MaryClaire Pappas and I am an art historian studying Scandinavian modern and contemporary art! I was drawn to studying Scandinavian art through the artist Edvard Munch (the guy who painted the scream 😱). After completing my M.A. at Queen's University, I worked at the Munch Museum studying Munch's drawing with a group of awesome researchers! During that time, my colleagues helped introduce me to contemporary Scandinavian artists asking questions about race, gender, and the politics of archives and museum spaces in Scandinavia! I now work with these artists to create exhibitions, research projects, and collaborations between artist-run centers in the midwest and in the Scandinavian countries.
